OH - going to be eggstra careful what i say on the forum now. Looking forward to getting my chickens. Cant believe a week ago i was trying to be talked out of it - fat lot of good that was

Dear Seedling, i know this is being quite selfish on my part but, i don't feel guilty in the least, as it has meant we have had the pleasure of your company on the Forum a lot more and that has to be a good thing.

I had 12 eggs today from 14 chickens, i also had 10 the day before not bad for a beginner.

Hi Seedling, i have 5 light sussex, and the others are from a free range farm, i don't no what sort they are.

We think the others are Rhode island reds.

If they look like this

they are ISA Brown, also known as Warrens. They are a cross between Rhode Island Red and Rhode Island White and popular with commercial producers for their ability to lay 300 or so eggs in their first year.

Hi Alan, thanks very much for telling me the breed of my brown chickens, its nice to know just in case any one else ask.
