I wonder how it all went.

Spring has sprung, or am I as mixed up as the weather?

Whoever said that forum weddings always have good weather knew what was what.

It all went better than I had dared to imagine and the sweet peas stretched over the bouquet, the church, 30 bunches on tables in the marquee and still a mass of colour in what should be the fruit garden. I've picked so many that I can't really smell them anymore but I'm hoping this will wear off.

For anybody else growing sweet peas for a wedding, the best white ones were not named varieties but Suttons "white sweet peas".

T&M Antique mixed was good too (bought as plugs) though the colours were much brighter than the picture in the catalogue.

They all responded well to liquid feed and we still had plenty with long stems. The Spencer mixed were the biggest plants.

My own collected seed germinated the best. I took seed straight from the plants into pots on October 24th 2007 and they are still flowering. If anybody wants seed around that time this year, then mail me and I could give you details of colours etc. Some have been pretty consistent over about five years.

Now people keep asking what I will do without a wedding to worry about. Easy, I shall transplant the leeks.

And then we will build the polytunnel.
