Dear Monika, i have to say i'm very impressed with your geography. :)

Glad you got some rain, and that there is more to come, things should look a lot fresher in a few days.

Was anyone near those moor fires i saw on the T.V. :?:

Dear OH. We could see the fires from the top of the road over from Gisburn over towards Bolton and beyond yesterday. The clouds of smoke were massive. Fabulous views from that particular road. Only a little bit of rain today certainly not enough to damp the ground enough. Hopefully it will rain again tomorrow.

Just spend an evening with our No 2 son who told us all his travel tales from China. He had a wonderful time because the people were so welcoming and friendly. A full meal with two bottles of beer cost the equivalent of £3 - the same as he paid in a hotel at Manchester Airport on his return for just one bottle of beer, no food! He took some beautiful photos of birds, too (feathered variety )which was his reason for being there in the first place.

Well another night of very heavy rain, i think that is quite enough for at least a week here.

Dear Catherine, i have heard it is particulary nice round the Lancashire area with some lovely views.

Dear Monika, glad No2 son is home safe an well, and also has memories that he will be able to treasure for a lifetime.
The people there sound rather like round here. :)

Still raining here too. We've definitely had enough now, people are still nervous after last years floods. My 3 boys have all got friends coming over to play today, so I was hoping for some fine weather. There's a football field right next to my allotment, so I was hoping to sneak in a spot of weeding while they all played football. No such luck. Weeds are growing too well.

Still no sign of baby.

Nice of you to ask, OH.

Sorry been absent for so long. Just hanging around waiting, but been getting out to the allotment lots to finish last minute things up and to try and shift this stubborn babe.

Am due tomorrow, but hoped it would be early like my son. Seems to be moving down, so keep your fingers crossed I get all my peas and caulis planted out today before it makes an appearance.

WEather's been dry and glorious up here until yesterday, no rain for weeks (unheard of in Scotland)but I'm sure it's on the way.

Another night of heavy rain and a thunderstorm thrown in as well about 1.30am. My poor old dog is petrefied of thunder and fireworks, so I was up with him for a couple of hours  Lovely bright and sunny morning though.

Cheers, PJ.

Hello OH Yes Lancashire does have some particularly good views. Amongst my favourite are from the top of Pendle Hill big end looking towards the Lake District very early in the morning before the crowds decend. Also just as you get to the top of the hill from Blacko on the road to Gisburn you rise up and over the top of the hill the view is magnificent of The Ribble Valley and the Yorkshire Dales with Penyghent and Ingleborough in the distance. And then there's ......ooh I could go on forever. Better stop there.

Monika Hope your garden has recovered from the battering it got this weekend. We have still not had enough rain for our plot and I am going to have to go and water tonight. Very light showers not enough to wet the soil. I just hope I am not wishing for more rain and then we get torrential.

Yay Seedling, I'm glad it wasn't a dream. I was awake half the night with the storm and rain but everyone else I know slept through it. I had begun to doubt the reality of it all. I'm sleepy too.

Still no decent rain. A bit of drizzle yesterday, some light rain this morning and some light rain at the moment, 6.30pm, making a total of 10mm (1 cm!) since the start of the month. But at least the wind has dropped and the temperature risen. Oh, just saw a pipistrelle bat going past the window. They'll be glad the wind has gone!

Hi Monika. It is pouring down here now It didn't start raining till about 5.15pm now it is horizontal rain. I have just been planting my Hestia dwarf runner beans and a butternut squash. I planted out some Dwarf runner beans out about three weeks ago and they just didnt start growing they have been watered and fed but they just went yellow and stopped growing. Ilooked at the seed packet and they are out of date. So they have been yanked out and am starting again.
