Tender & True, only 24 germinated and of those only around a dozen actually came through.
Palace F1, all but 17 germinated and today I planted out 113 of them, gave away another 20 and chucked out a further 22 (I'd run out of toilet roll innards so had planted them in pots which didn't work).
I know what I'm buying from now on

I happened to be passing a big new display of Johnsons seeds today, and bought a couple packets of Palace parsnip seeds. They better be good Chantal

Hi PJ
I dug out a huge parsnip today, so long that the end broke off as my spade couldn't get in deep enough. We've eaten a dozen or so now and they've been delicious.
I am growing these again next year.

Turga from 3-year-old seed: most of those I stuck in compost in toilet-rolls came up and have thrived in the bed which I spread with leaf-mould last autumn. The ones I sowed direct germinated quicker than I expected and have done at least as well. I'm expecting a few long ones like yours, Chantal.

Hi Chantal,
That sounds pretty good to me.
I bet OH has got bigger ones though

Dug up our first parsnip today and it's a grand specimen, albeit a little forked at the end. The variety is 'Countess' which I have grown the last few years, germinated in the approved KG manner, on damp kitchen paper. It certainly works.

Gosh - people digging up parsnips already. That sounds really autumnal! Mine are still buried under copious amounts of leaf. Must go outside and give them and poke to see how they're doing. Am really looking forward to seeing how my first attempts at growing in loo rolls have performed.
