Hi Elle,
Gosh that takes me back some years. "Tear and share" was my families Saturday lunch. Fresh baked bread. Tear a chunk off and pass it on with butter and cheese washed down with a bottle of beer! You have just taken me back to my childhood. More years than I care to admit.

Best/worst thing since sliced bread?

i dont eat white plastic bag bread, there is too much yeast in it and it makes me bloated and makes my skin go bad. i try not to eat bread at all, but when i do it is rye bread, or wholemeal soda bread. Absolutely delicious
or when i am in france i try to stick to Pain au levain, i find i can tolerate this much better, perhaps because they refrain from using high levels of yeast to speed up production.
Hi Edible,
Thankfully France will not allow any fat to be used in their bread and they use totally different Wheats to us. We use very hard Wheats which can be milled to very fine whereas in France the flour is decidedly coarser making wonderful bread.

Hi Johnboy
Surely it's French bakers who use the strong flour.
