Corfe Castle and the area around is really nice - we go for drives
around there in the Summer as about an hour from us. It has loads
of little villages around and is fun to just follow some of the sign
posts along the little lanes as you find all sorts of interesting scenes
and quite often fetes etc. There is a bus that links into Poole and
goes around these villages and across the chain ferry. If you get out
on the Corfe side before it goes over the ferry you can walk along the
beach then up into Studland village as quite a nice pub there - (Studland Beach is a nudist beach but just look out to sea and try not to snicker). There is a steam train into Swanage from Corfe Castle and of course it is the Jurassic coast so I'll avoid comments about fossils.
The other side of the chain ferry is Sandbanks where all the rich footballers live -again you can snicker as there is some demonstrations of extreme bad taste!
From Poole you can do Bournmouth (nice beach, not much else), then head for Christchurch and Mudeford, Hengistbury Head etc and the New Forest. I live in Mudeford and my lottie is on the road to Lyndhurst. About ten minutes up this road you can take any number of turns and you are in the New Forset - again loads of villages and beautiful spots to stop and feel you are the only one there and be grateful of the peace and silence.
So you have made a good choice - near lots of other places or just explore the area around there.
