..Actually, I admit, there wasn't an axe.

...but there are 2 spades, 3 wolf cultivators, and a railway shunting pole all within reach as I sit here.
DVD is currently being exercised by "Flowers"....
....perhaps cue to go lift some Dahlias to store now...

We managed to get a few bulbs into rows in part of the cut flower area first thing....but then it started to snow..quite light at first but at 1pm we had a good dose..after which it froze once more.....
Anyway, we got some shed jobs done that had been waiting for such a day and then Fuchsia trimming down on the greenhouse back wall too...

A few snow flurries here today, but nothing on the ground yet. It's minus 3 degrees now and likely to drop.
On Sunday, I am doing a Rotary Club 5km charity run, dressed as Santa Claus. Tried on my costume today and look a real twit, but it's all in a good cause. We are raising money for two local cancer hospices and the British Heart Foundation. Perhaps the forecast snow will make it look particularly seasonal, all these Santas on the run!

..an unprecedented happening this evening...I have prepared some Shallots for pickling..
..I can about use a tea towel in a kitchen.

...anything more is a mystery.

..so I am a bit concerned about my new found urge to pickle some Shallots.

....
There were some Shallots being sorted for store and there were these lovely little ones that were just crying out to be pickled.....that is were it all started...they are now sat in "brine" 'til tomorrow......only one little jar, by the way....not a 45 gallon drum or anything..
