I think yesterday it threatened rain all day and then finally I got either 5 or 6 drops! And that was that. I am journeying over the border into Wales on a day out and I bet it absolutely p----s down because I have taken a day off.

Hi Alan,
Is this you having a go at me! Travelling from Welshpool to Newtown I got to a place called Refail and it absolutely poured down. No sign of rain before or after Refail. Coincidence I guess.

It's been that hot here today, it's made my hair rustle like pea straw.

Hi Johnboy
Just a little taste of what we had all day
Last night it was dark by 8.30. This morning is dark, cold, windy and raining
Morning OH
Best of luck with the village fete - just keep lighted matches away from your hair

Morning Alan, now that's given me an idea for a new fete game, flicking lighted matces at Old Herbaceous's hair, the first one to ignite it, gets the prize.
I'm sure a lot of the husbands from around the village will have go, after go.

Good to see the sun coming up this morning, after two days of rain and wind - it's not "Baking Britain" everywhere!
Yesterday, Saturday, was wet all day and it barely came properly light. Temperature at noon
in the polytunnel was just touching 19C
Never mind; the climbing French beans and borlotti are zooming skywards, the courgettes are swelling before my eyes, and the pumpkins are sprinting

We had a very brief, very heavy shower on Wednesday, which left puddles but had completely dried up half an hour later. It was very localised too...my friend, 5 minutes walk down the road didn't have any rain!
It has been very windy here all week, brilliant for drying the washing but no ruddy good for the soil. It's a good job it was windy yesterday or the heat would have been unbearable and the the most energetic job I did, was harvesting blackcurrants and redcurrants.

It's certainly a lot cooler today but the wind is even stronger than before.
Cheers.

To all of you looking for rain, may I suggest you move to mid-Wales? July has been a wash-out so far (and cool with it), and we are really tired of listening to radio commentators and forecasters discussing the high temperatures all others but us (so it seems) are enjoying!
If it is lush, green grass you are looking for, then this is the place for you!

Or even the Ribble Valley where we camped since Friday, we had to put the tent up in torrential rain, which eased when we got into the tent but the wind has been a real problem this weekend. I have hardly had any sleep on Friday night as the wind was so strong and I was worried about our tent blowing away.
On Saturday it eased and we had a lovely day though overcast and cool. When we got back to our camp site, which is normally very quiet, a couple of families had arrived with the most horrendous children I have ever had the misfortune to be on a campsite with. They screamed and yelled and ran around making as much noise as possible all evening, whilst their parents enjoyed their booze and chat

At about 10.30 they were so tired that one small child would not stop screaming and crying for ages. People are so selfish. At 3am the people in the next tent woke and decided to have a conversation, in normal voices for about an hour.
We ended up getting up early and putting the tent down in the high wind and rain. Brilliant, back home, irritable, cross, fed up and tired and it is still windy and showery.
I am just glad that the polytunnel is still intact.
What happened to our glorious weather we were supposed to have today.

Columbine if you want sunshine holiday down here. Still waiting for rain in the south east corner, they keep forecasting a little but it just does not materialise
