I like the idea of using a Strawberry - they ought to bring out a new one called Rhubarb.
I'm afraid my attempts to enter the technological age are fraught with difficulties. I try and follow the instructions for installing things and then they give me a choice of two things I've no idea what they are, or get fed up of waiting for downloads and try pressing a few buttons to see if they've finished and ending up freezing the lot or making a mess of it. My son is getting suspicious everytime I speak to him or text him and usually starts with "what have you done now?"
I've just been trying to put Skype on and thought I was doing OK until it didn't recognise the webcam, so I'm going to have to get my son round again.
Talking about new technology, is it legal for a person across the road to have a video camera pointing across straight at your house?

Hi Plumpudding
I'm no lawyer and have the good fortune to live in an area where there are no burglar alarms, let alone home CCTV systems. If you look at the links below, you will see that there is nothing "illegal" under the Data Protection Act - but you may be able to take action under human rights legislation if the camera is recording your property and activities directly.
Happy reading and hopefully a satisfactory solution will be found.

Thanks Alan, I suppose he will say he is just watching the road, but it is pointing straight across at our back door. It seems like an invasion of privacy knowing you are on film every time you come out of the door or walk about in your garden.
I think I'll go and ask to see exactly what he can see on it and ask him to point it somewhere else if I'm not happy with it.

You might be due to some royalties.
As you said, a quiet word seems the way forward, Plumpudding

Yes, I did, absolutely fascinating, daughter now wants a Silver Fox though.

I watched it on iPlayer after it was mentioned here and it was fascinating stuff

When I'm lighting the fire and the dog joins me on the rug I wonder how much creature comforts had to do with it.

It is a strange old world.
Last night i sat thinking about my drinking days i had some twenty odd years ago with my mates that worked the doors of some of the larger pubs in Cornwall. I got to wondering what they might be doing these days, as i lost contact with them all.
When low and behold one of them rang me up a little while ago.
It appears they have all quietened down the same as i have.
I wonder if any of them have joined a gardening forum.

Good Evening OH,
Is that a gentle suggestion that we might be introduced to one of your old friends?
This could be fun!
