ive never washed a pot either,

Seems I am in the minority then as I do wash my pots, quick scrub in water then soaked in Jeys before leaving to dry and then stacked for use.

Also scrub the greenhouse down with Jeyes, then reek of the stuff for the next week.

I have never cleaned a pot or tray either, my thinking being that the bugs and things in a used pot are the same as those in the ground so if a plant can't survive in my pots then it wont survive in the ground.Damping off! whats that?

Never washed a pot. There's more to life and, frankly, can't be bothered.

As to your childhood Chantal, it sounds wonderful. Did you live near Southport or just visit.

Your childhood sounds like an ideal way to bring up kids. I can't get the vision of the ducks in the ladies shower out of my mind though. Imagine the shock of someone if they walked in!

No Lizzie, I've always lived in Warwickshire, Draycote Water Sailing Club was were all the action was. My mother and I can still recall the hysteria caused when six ducks walked into the showers and joined bunch of naked school girls. You could have heard the screams for miles. I have a photo somewhere of our ducks all lined up on the roof with their heads stuck through the window eating toast for breakfast. It was magical and insane although it seemed perfectly normal at the time. Our Golden Retriever was in the local paper with his bunny under the caption "Hare of the Dog" when someone from the club dobbed him in. It was great to see, a hugh great dog going for a walk with a leveret hopping along beside him. Happy days...

Hi Jerry,
I used to get rid of the detritus fron the pots but was assured that if left in Jeyes for 24 hrs there is no need as as anything untoward in the pots is sterilized by the Jeyes but they must be emmersed for the full 24 Hour period.
I spoke to a Jeyes Rep at a Horticultural Exhibition about 10 years ago and that was his advice.

I used Jeyes to clean my tunnels this year - you're right about the smell!
