Dear Chantal, our postlady reckons she dreads today with all the extra post she has to deliver to me. :)

I did tell her she only has to send me the one card, i won't repeat her reply.

I think there must be romance in the air round here. First I spotted an unseasonal hot air balloon then a plane flew round it towing a banner. Unfortunately I couldn't make out the words but I know a member of the balloon retrieval crew so should find out eventually.

I was tempted

But looking through the members' profiles I can't find anyone who gives their location as

toxic arsenic lakes or boiling deep sea hydrothermal vents

Mind you, there are quite a few lakes round here, and we are very near the sea :!:

Best wishes

Since my last post I just remembered this famous shot of a couple tending some well-known Bedforshire allotments :D

I would nominate OH, but he'd come round in his flying saucer and death ray me.

BTW, Is your Avatar Bull not tired of checking the quality of methane his harem are producing?

Dear Peter, how could you even think such a thing of me. :?

And another thing, i'm not sure why my name should be the first to spring to peoples minds when something silly or strange gets mentioned. :? :)

I know Steve won't say anything - shy he his, bless 'im - but he has just done a cracking book through HAYNES (the manual people!) called Home-grown Vegetable Manual.

You can see it on the Haynes website - http://www.haynes.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stor ... &langId=-1

I've had a quick look over a copy here and we're all very impressed :)
I'm going to see if we can secure some to giveaway, or sell locally - but keep an eye out for it!

Now i've got some 3'' pots of pea seedlings growing nicely in my greenhouse, and whilst admiring them i got to thinking.
I was wondering, if pinching the tops out at three leaves would have the same huge benefits as it does with sweetpeas.

Has anyone tried this, or has anyone got any thoughts on doing this.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
