We have been on the lottie all afternoon but it is really cold so I have put the butternut squashes back in the polytunnel which, although it is cold, at least they are protected. It started raining here this afternoon but only fine rain and we have had no rain for two weeks. My baby sweetcorn are turning funny I mean as I have never grown them before I dont know what to expect, I think it is too cold to plant them out but they seem to have got a long spindly root then it thickens into a shoot. Dont know if I have to plant above the spindly root or below? Would they be okay in the polytunnel?

I've not been near the lottie today and I am not only fully clouted I have the central heating on too
The forecast for tomorrow looks promising though, nice and sunny

It's been cloudy and drizzling here today too. We've had a few days of on and off drizzle now, so the garden is looking a lot fresher. It's expected to drop as low as 11 degrees tonight as well.

Just to give a timely warning: for our area (North Yorkshire) there is frost forecast, possibly for Sunday night and Monday night! Must get my celeriac and chrysanths covered with fleece and the potatoes earthed up.

A superb morning here this morning, got all sorts of different things lined up for today.
Suppose i better get on with them instead of sitting here reading the forum.

Just for once...i'm also awake at this ungodly hour on a Sunday morning. I've been up all night....again.
No lottie for me today unfortunately as not well enough...having enough trouble getting up the stairs lol....it's quite a sight to see
Hopefully Monday will bring a diffeerent day for me.

Morning all,
Nice and sunny here this morning. Still a bit breezy though. I've just been along the seafront to the paper shop, and the beach looks lovely. Absolutely deserted. Don't suppose it will stay like that for long though.

We were at a motorbike rally this weekend (an excuse to consume vast quantites of beer and talk b@ll@@@s about bikes of course)
, and my nice warm jacket liner was firmly zipped back in. I had lots of other layers of clouts as well. Forgot to wear winter gloves though, very cold paws with summer weight ones.

side shooting and tying up the tomatoes in the polytunnel mid morning the clouts came off
nice to see some sun again.

I hope you've got a good rope and tackle jobbie there in wonderful Milton Bryant Herby....
Not doing too badly today....at least i'm nearly upright again...another day or so and i'll be back to normal. It was the bloody digging that did it....hopefully the wonderful Grock or Mr Grock has splashed a bit of water about in the greenhouse. I'm sure they will have cos they're brilliant for doing that, bless them
