Are you sure you want a Grock loose on your premises though? Mind you, keep a tranquiliser dart handy and you should be ok. Just hope it's not a full moon

Hi Chantal,
Sunday 14th looks good for me, but it depends on baby-sitting in North Berwick(!) and being nice to cook. So I shall probably delay booking until nearer the time. But is there likely to be problem with tickets?

I can only go by what Tigger said that sometimes people get turned away on the day so it's best to book. I've never been before I'm afraid, over to you Tigger.

It seems that not everybody will be at Malvern on the same day, or even at the same time and there is the question of a rendezvous to be settled. In view of all this, how about some sort of distinctive badge so that we can recognise each other if our paths do cross. We have been to several horticultural shows and on entry have been equipped with badges or maybe they are nametags. The show people personalise these while you wait by means of a printed insert, company name and/or personal name. In our case we have Crwys Garden Produce, if nothing else is arranged we will wear those. Perhaps TKG/Mortons could be persuaded to come up with something on free issue, to be kept for all future events, after all it's a relatively cheap way of publicising the magazine. I believe that the National Pen Company with whom I have an account can do such things to order, there must be other sources too.

We used mobile phones at the Ryton Potato Day and it worked very well and if we all book into the same carpark then surely your idea is slightly more than a tad over elaborate.

I've been an event manager for 20 plus years and unless I made badges with VERY large writing, people go around trying not to look at each other's chests trying to read badges; and these are people who are already acquainted but with bad memories.
The thought of having to walk around Malvern squinting at the chests of complete strangers is not appealing and Johnbuy and Piglet could get arrested!
As Johnboy says, he, the Piglets, Tigger, Chez and I all managed to find each other very easily at Ryton by using mobile phones and anything else is overly complicated.

We could adapt the pink carnation idea and all nonchalantly carry a current copy of KG (whilst using our mobile phones of course).

Sorry to ask a dumb question, but will KG have a presence of some kind? If so, maybe they have a sticker we could put on our badges, retrieved on the day (and perhaps distributed by post prior for those who definitely have registered?) Just a thought...

Johnboy. My idea is directed not at those who want to arrange to be there on the same day, same time and immediately form as a gang, rather at the chance meet-up on any day and time anywhere, besides it's a good idea to publicise the fact that there is another side to gardening than the ornamental one, and that there is an excellent magazine to cater for us. The ornamental and leisure market have too much publicity on TV, the news stands, the shops, let's try to redress the balance. Dig For Victory Mk II !

If that's OK with everyone, I'll start a thread about the 'Malvern Menu' nearer the time and we can finalise times/venue then.
Why am I doing this Chantal if you're the events organiser?!

Because Tigger, I hate to do in my social life what I have to do at work. So it's all yours darling; although I will do some badges for us 'cos I'm a nice person and the chance of seeing Piglet with a badge saying "Squeezit Gorillabuns" on his chest is just too good to miss...

As Malvern falls in May, which is just about planting time, how about we organise a plant swap on the day as well as a big feast.
I am sure that we are all going to have different varieties of pepper, chilli, tomato, squash etc to each other and have a couple of plants left over.
What do you think peeps.
