My dear OH

You should know at your age that as far as the ladies are concerned you/we can never win.

My Governor suggested just over a week ago that it was possibly time that I fully retired...several days later I was being seriously berated for coming home earlier than she anticipated

I just made it out the door in time following a comment along the lines of...."And you want me to retire....you have to be kidding"

Isn't she wonderful :D

It's the old "can't live with em...can't live without out em" syndrome.

I have to admit OH that I too have a couple of places where I slip away for a bit of peace and quiet...ssshhh

My husband and I have been both retired together now for about three years and we have hit quite a successful formula, I think: we do lots of things together, but we also have our own hobbies, friends and outings which we do quite separately and happily, so we don't get into each others' way.

Monika

I think you are absolutely right... As I work from home I have my office which is tucked away on the end of the garage.... it serves also as my 'den' where I can escape from time to time

It is here that I have my PC, my work files, manuals, etc. plus all my gardening paraphanalia and other 'man type' bits and bobs

Thanks for your good wishes. I'm at home tonight but Lyndon has been with Don today. We swap over tomorrow. His charity has raised a huge amount of money this year (60K) for Challenge Cancer Through Adventure and their celebration party is tomorrow evening. He planned this when he was well, so no-one could have guessed we would be doing this in the current circumstances.

My job is to be with him during Saturday afternoon, take him from the Hospice to the party to say goodbye to his friends and colleagues, then take him back. That's what he wants, so that's what I'll do.

Don't know quite what that's going to be like, but I think he may be better prepared for it than some of the people there.

Let's hope I'm up to the job! Speak to you soon.

Tigger, My thoughts are with you and your brother. Make the most of what time you have left. It always passes too quickly in these circumstances.

Oh Tigger, it won't be easy for you, but what a wonderful thing for you to be able to do for him.

OH, I would love to have a picture of Patrick, my motorbike, as my avatar, but computer says no. Too many bytes, apparently. I looked at it and couldn't see any, like I couldn't see any calories in that cake I had earlier. Maybe I should get my eyes tested.

Dear Pongeroon, i hope it was a big slice, and as for your computer, be like me and never take no for an answer.

Hello all - well, the charity surpassed itself in reaching nearly 12K more than it's target 2 years earlier than expected. Don said a few words of thanks to all the people who havbe helped and contributed, to the 2 of the originators of the charity who have since died, and to all those there and several more for supporting him and his wife in recent weeks, which was pretty moving.

Although he only managed 30 minutes at the 'do', so many people seemed pleased to see him there and greated him with hugs and kisses. It was a privelege to watch.

I was taken aback by the number of people who came to talk to me about what a special person he was. So - I will always remember that. It's a side of him that I've always known about, but probably have never fully appreciated.

Dear Tigger, what a huge amount of money, i should think everyone was pleased with that.
All you can do is treasure that very special moment in your life.
My thoughts are with you all.
