Also, would be interested in people's feedback re: other woman whose name I've completely forgotten. Seems to speak as though she smokes 100 fags an hour, and often has interesting coloured hair. As for her gardening interests, she seems to be often at odds with Uncle Monty. Northern accent.

Really must try not to be swayed by image (repeat 100 times).

Monty and Alan in a skirt? Hmmmmmm. Chris Beardshaw in a skirt????? Hmmmmmmmmmm.....

Christine in a skirt????? Argh! Bizarre!

With all due respect, Grock, I don't detect a L'pool twang in SR's dulcet tones. You been for elecution lessons or wot?

Back out to play for a bit as himself is glued to a programme on samuri which is as dull as dull as far as I'm concerned.

Carol Klein is great - met her before at a show and she's really down to earth and dead keen on her plants. As for Sarah Raven - Grock what's with the lace-up knee high boots and funny bag lady coats. You been cutting a dash down the lottie in that get up today then

I have been having difficulty signing on as a regular. I filled in the necessary boxes, but several times when I have tried to send a message to the site, I have received the message that the site has already been allocated. I have then resorted to the guest valmarg.

Well guest, valmarg is an abbreviation of my Christian names, ie Valerie Margaret. It is old dearly beloved's pet name for me.

I am not a nangy old tart, really!

I did find the Fred Dibna programmes unlistenable to. His voice was the problem. He just droned on. I will not argue that the subject of his programmes was fascinating, but I found them unlistenable to. I seriously think that Christine had the same problem.

Hello Valerie. My name is Paul, I have used the site for a couple of years now. I,m sure I must be in the Archive somewhere. When I answered Sue's post I wasnt looking for confrontation. Your reply seemed a bit strong I'm also a great fan of Fred Dibnah, taped every prog he ever made over the christmas on one of the history channels. (how sad is that?) but I find him thoroughly entertaining so I jump to his defence anytime. My thoughts about signing or not signing are on the record. Its not the first time this has come up, someone only a short time ago saying no way would she use her real details online. I just dont get it, if I sign on as "the miserable old git" will that make anyone the wiser as to my I.D.? Not really, only as to my disposition. The only thing I will say is that I'm not the only "guest" guesting regularly, but only I (and the other guests) know its not me (probably Spud face as well).I'm sorry we have come into conflict on a public forum perhaps in future we'll find something to agree about....Peace and love Paul.

Opinion being personal, my thoughts are the exact opposite of Piglets' "Sarah Raven is very good and actually gets her hands dirty unlike Rachael De Tame who I am sure is nothing more than a designer garden wear clothes horse.".

This Christine lives just down the road from me, never heard of her locally prior to the BEEB picking her up. Couldn't take more than five minutes of the programme, telling her neighbours how to water some plants.

Hello Peter, hello Valerie

Peter, you're right, it makes no difference if you call yourself Peter or Miserable Old Git, the difference is we KNOW if it's the same Miserable Old Git all the time or a whole batch of Miserable Old Gits having a conference. If you get one person you are having a "discussion" with. it's a lot easier to address than if you don't know if you have one person who's schizophrenic or several people with similar views. Now I'm being pedantic, sorry.

On a personal note, I always feel happier replying to messages from a "name" and not what sometimes feels like a poison pen letter (and no, I'm not accusing you two of sending any). If I received a letter at home from "anon" I'd chuck it on the fire, why should I feel any different about a forum posting?

Don't all shout at me at once please, form an orderly queue.

Chantal  :)

A gang of us from the forum met up at Ryton for a potato day and Carol Klein was there, she was great, very approachable and friendly.

Sarah Ravens dress sense is rather bizzare but, hey, so what. As for gardening in a skirt, nothing wrong in that. I have wandered around my garden in a sarong before, but dont think I could put up with the abuse I would get from the allotment. And yes Grock I got married in a kilt, worn properly you know.

Sarah Vs Charlie. Sarah any day, she is much more feminine. Charlie dimmock, like Christine is a man with breasts. (no offence intended)
Kindest regards Piglet
