It was the winter 1962/1963, Allan and Chantal. I remember it well (as well as 1947 (we had minus 27 degrees centigrade where I lived!) and 1941, for that matter. My twin daughters were born just before Christmas 1962 and they never went out in a pram until March when the snow had disappeared. In addition, our water froze in mid-January and we had to carry water in buckets across a farmyard, tip it in a "Baby-Burco" to boil the numerous nappies (we had a one-year-old lad as well) - no disposables then! My children, all parents themselves now, think it hilarious when I go on about the "hardships" then. But it WAS tough and it makes you appreciates the small comforts in life jolly side more!

It's been a right horrible day here today, weather wise. More snow then rain, but luckily i've been decorating inside a conservatory so managed to keep dry.
And before anyone mentions it, no i didn't paint the glass.

It's been snowing since 11am here. We now have electricity, but I don't know how long for. Bridge Club is cancelled as the roads are not usable. There's no Sky signal so I can't watch TV.
Looks like it'll have to be cooking, wine and the Internet!

Weatherwise in our bit of Somerset there has been no snow, cold icy rain though After the allotment field was churned up a bit last week by the manure delivery it is nows soaked with the tractor tracks making great puddle dents!!! I bet some plonkers try and take their vehicles on this weekend!!!
And as for Mrs Klein's programme tonight, did snot appear to be that good tonight, in my view. I also find the noise of anyone eating pretty disgusting, so a full screen size of Carol's cake hole chomping sweetcorn - noises and all - did not do much for my viewing satisfaction tonight!!
