Lovely photos Pa. Thanks so much for sharing (and saving the rest of us the cost of an entry ticket

)
There is obviously joy for the growers in producing such beautiful specimens, some of which have probably been grown under special conditions. I wonder though whether there is any less pleasure felt by the ordinary growers who produce these vegetables in their allotments and garden plots. I can,t help looking at the ugly carrots, beetroots and other root vegetables and thinking that often we have no idea what the results of our labour will produce until the magic moment when we dig them up. Perhaps that's all part of the anticipation.
Pity the Ugly Beasties can't be displayed on some supermarket shelves in the vegetables area to better educate the public on what some real vegetables actually turn out like when grown. It might make customers realise how much produce gets wasted along the way when supermarkets only display perfect products on their shelves.

So many exhibits I can only aspire to emulating.
Finding a small number of toms or spuds etc for our local show is difficult enough but when I look at the number of beans potatoes and tomatoes etc in the entries on those benches I am in awe.
Few general view shots now, since our main interest is vegetables I did not take many floral pictures.

Now I quite fancy one of these. It is micromesh, serious bit of kit but also serious price
There was also a exhibitor who makes them with very thick industrial bubble wrap, not the sort of thing you can pop with fingers.

Can you tell me what this exhibitor specialised in

Great series of photographs. Did you come away with any variety hints or do you think show varieties are different beasts?

Good question Geoff
The only class we noticed as being almost 100% same variety entered were the peas. All but one were 'Show Perfection'
A lot of the other entries were not marked as to which variety they were but of those that were I didn't see many entries of varieties we use.
Quite a few were marked as 'Own Seed'
