With the price of garlic, £1 per bulb. Tempted to try a few supermarket bulbs alongside The home grown varieties. My local supermarket gives me a choice of Spanish or Chinese.

In my experience supermarket bulbs grow well, if looked after properly, I grew one a few years ago, and I'm still collecting the bulbs and replanting. at present, I have 5 cloves growing in an old washing up bowl in my garden. I like container gardening, I can move things to suit the weather

And this year, I got a new breed from Morrisons, its a deep purple skin with a medium bulb instead of my normal white skin with a small bulb... and thats growing in an old formula milk tin

So yeh, definitely worth trying to grow garlic from a shop bulb. Just dont try the smoked garlic bulbs... I made this mistake and realised after 6 months it was never going to grow

Re my £1 garlic bulbs. They are now £1.50. Lets hope the crop is 50% larger.

Na, the only thing that's 50% larger is the profit margin from the suppler...
