This already exists in the Website Help area as a sticky post, here is the link.

Subject: Posting Rules & Guidelines

Your comments about etiquette are being thought about, no promises from me as it needs to be a KG decision.

Hi Peter, I had in mind more of a specific welcoming area where members could introduce themselves and their gardens / allotments / interests/ etc to the forum, the guidelines could be stickied in this area. I have noticed very few people actually welcoming newbies, and its nice to know a little about them. Regulars could check in to get to know the newbies, discover common interests and give them a welcome. I have sometimes seen newby questions stuck in the unanswered section for some time with no welcome or answer to their question.

General Chatter would seem appropriate rather than a ghetto?

Stuck initial posts are often because those that have viewed the post don't have an answer to the question asked and are more backward about coming forward than you or I.

Welcomes are a community thing, not an enforceable rule, , so if you see a "hi there" unanswered, then don't ignore it for several days, but equally try not to loose the original question if one was asked.

I've noticed that whenever i give a newbie a warm welcome, they seem to disappear, never to be seen again. :)
