Just been and fed some cats for one person, and to feed a dog for another, and i have to say, it is wet out there......

And particularly for our poor flooded neighbours round the Bay - though they have yet more rain coming tonight

Contrary to the forecasts, we had a lovely day here yesterday, Sunday - sunny and almost no wind, temperature rose to 23 degrees! And it doesn't look bad today either. The first courgettes are going out, albeit protected by a fleece screen.

I do hope the Welsh flooded areas will improve soon, it seems the flooding is going to happen in the English south-east today ...

We had the lovely day yesterday that ended in this sunset - I don't know how many sunset photographs I have but I keep taking them. It was a real pleasure weeding until 8 o'clock at night. Today is grey and weeding is a real pain as the midges are out and about.

Yesterday was overcast but pleasant up till around 7pm when light rain appeared. It has rained overnight, heavily at times and is still raining now.

An enjoyable and productive sunny day here, just gone overcast.
Wood chip pile moved into a small pile in the raspberry area and four compost daleks, top up in three, one filled entirely.
Potatoes, rotovated between rows and given second earthing up.
Bought in sweet peas planted as a wigwam.
Overnight soaked peas planted with hazel pea sticks.
Lumpily rotovated bit of 18 knocked down to plantable tilth and twenty-eight Cosse Violette climbing French beans planted out.
Cucumbers and first tranche of Squashes planted out.

We had rain overnight and into mid morning but then a lovely sunny rest of the day on the whole. Have repotted about 12 Chillis into their final pots and potted on 9 mini sweetcorns.

Things are starting to look a bit happier now with Mangetout, runner beans, amethyst beans and tomatoes flowering and I've even got flowers forming on the main crop potatoes.

The start of the second half of June and yet another "Welsh" day - wind and rain fourth day running!
Last night it was dark at 7-30pm and only a few days from the solstice

Looks like "summer" may be here at last - just in time for the solstice! Bright sun this morning and a warmer week forecast. See, I'm not always pessimistic

Here on the, drier side, it is grey with light rain..............

There does though seem some suggestion of an improvement this week.

It was in fact lovely yesterday with blue sky at times...and with a Spitfire up in it too.
I went in to work and spent the day doing some catch up jobs in the kitchen garden.

Warm though overcast here but the sun is trying its' hardest to break through and the plants are actually growing

Going to get the school pumpkins in the ground this lunchtime - they have flowers forming on them as they sit nice and snug in pots in the polytunnel May also try and get the sweetcorn planted up as well - depending on time.

We had some time this morning doing some greenhouse jobs...Salvia Patens seedlings potted up, some new Pelargoniums moved up to 1 litres...and the Begonias moved up into their final Clay pots for display.

Last of the Wallflowers came out later..and remaining Tagetes, Ageratum and Cleome are in.

At home tonight, had a ride out in Astra the "farm car"....and collected up the Hazel sticks for Radeo mast use......

Well I managed to get the sweetcorn into the ground at the school with the enthusiastic assistance of 6 pupils. Unfortunately the pumpkins will have to wait for a few days because we have discovered a bees nest under a grate beside the pumpkin patch.

Ordinarily the nest would be left alone and the pumpkins housed elsewhere but as the grate is in the actual playground the bees will have to be moved and so we are awaiting the arrival of an expert and the pumpkins will be planted out then.

The children and I also put the last of the purpel podded pea seedlings (young plants really) into their final positions. The first of the purple podded peas, planted out some 4-5 weeks ago, are now putting on a spectacular show for us - well worth the effort and sapce
