No, I didn't get to spot the older aircraft.

The BBMF are based about 13 miles WSW of here....and we often hear them carrying out practise displays over their home base of RAF Coningsby...but don't tend to see them as often as might be expected.

RAF Scampton is North of Lincoln and we're a big county so last nights event was happening almost on the other side of the county from us here.

I did spot the BBMF Dakota out on air test just North of us the other week and a pair of the fighters were about with a photo aircraft recently too.

A few years ago the BBMF Lancaster carried out a memorial visit to Germany. That morning I was working in the garden at work and saw the aircraft climbing out towards the North Sea...that made me pause for thought...as there it was en route Germany....

We see the Lancaster about 3 or 4 times a year on average. I think the Dakota came over a few months ago - I'm not good a aircraft recognition but the veteran aircraft have that distinctive, low drone and I'm fairly sure it wasn't the Lancaster. My hubby was quizzing me on the nose art etc because he missed it flying over completely - he said my observation skills were woeful

The Lancaster never fails to give us heart failure due to it's low flight pattern. As it banks away from our village it always looks as though it is either going down or is going to fly in to the hill

When the entire memorial flight come over ...... now that's special. Always brings tears to my eyes!

Frost last night! Wrong very wrong!

Wind, rain, hail, sleet today.......and now I see 5.7 C, with a falling trend, on the weather station.

This afternoon at work we had hail that turned everything white, then the sun came out for five minutes and the hail was gone.

freezing again today and raining non-stop too

I have give up at work, i will go and cut the lawns at the big house tomorrow afternoon. Good in some ways, as i can read all the posts on here that i have missed.

Icy wind here. Dared not put out any plants during the day for hardening off - but the forecast for tomorrow and Sunday is less wind, more sun and 15C! Allotment, here I come.

Interesting weather to have our front foor snd five windows replaced.

Noticeable ground frost this morning before sunrise. Down to 1C in polytunnel overnight. As well I covered the potted cucumbers and peppers on the bench. Otherwise tomatoes in the beds look happy enough.

Well, what a difference 24 hours can make...... yesterday i left the gardens at the big house, with the gardens being cold, wet and looking all blown about and the lawns looking rather scruffy. But today what a transformation, sunny, warm, the plants all standing to attention, and now with all the lawns cut and edged it all looks a little more like it should.

Hope the owners are pleased on their return from lunch, there again, they might not even notice.

I got the second group of Bean poles put up at work this morning..the land there had dried a little more than ours here.
This afternoon at home I got the Radeo Peas sticked...tall wire mesh on East side...taller Hazel sticks on the West side.
Then out with the Hayter Harrier 41..and got the front lawn mowed and striped.

Perhaps a little Tomato planting later...actually quite big Tomato planting out from 1 litre pots....

Bank Holiday weekend and a barbecue - can't believe it!

Yes, what a great day and more of it tomorrow, me thinks. Planted 60 leeks this morning - I wish all plants were as easy to plant as leeks! But it is surprising how dry the ground is. When I watered the leeks in, the water just disappeared into the hole, again and again and again. It's been cold and unpleasant recently here but certainly not very wet, just drizzle.

Spent all afternoon gardening at home, including planting up hanging baskets, pricking out herbs, stopping fuchsias, potting on ten-week stocks, sowing more sunflowers (having already planted out twelve of them) ....... Oh, the joys of spring.
