It’s amazing how things respond to some decent rain isn’t it - you can see the difference almost overnight!
Broad beans are starting to look promising, and this morning I spotted a bit of red on one of the strawberries, I think they’re going to be a bit earlier than usual this year.
Just worked out what I can fit in to one of my beds which is a bit of a strange shape - think I should be able to get dwarf French beans, plus a wigwam of climbing ones, 2 courgettes (going to try and grow them vertically), and some beetroots. Fingers crossed they’ll all fit in!

Just noticed that my 2021 saved seed black seeded runner beans are popping through.
...and yes, even the 1mm of rain can be seen to have moved some border things along at the big garden.

I see we have rain, dark cloud 2 rain drop symbol type, listed on four hours tomorrow morning greater than 95% chance of... I start to worry then, as long as it knows when to stop when it starts....there are roses that look very well on the recent dry weather with heads in sunshine.....

Some of the Roses in the sunniest part of the garden, look very unhappy and the petals are falling before the blooms have opened properly.

I’ve had really good germination this year, with both Runner and French bean seed.

Maybe our roses are running on the stock of water we had in 23/24.!

That 16mm rain we had, a month or more back, when other areas seemed to miss it, has genuinely helped.

Have you had any rain at all where you are OH? The poor roses, such a shame to see the petals falling before the blooms have opened properly.

We have rain in the forecast for tonight and the Met Office radar screen seems to confirm it will actually happen. We need it!

Just a couple of the lightest of showers in the last 6 weeks…..all the lawns look like straw….

The rain has arrived here, timing as advertised. Good job I remembered to collect and bring my rain coat home yesterday evening.!

Rain here overnight too - everything’s looking much happier!

Well we had some rain in the early hours, so freshened things up but, with the wind and the soil being so dry, it has nearly gone already!

We had 5mm in the rain gauge this morning...but yes, that wind is a blowing and after a little more rain overnight there's a dose more wind billed for tomorrow..

We got some overnight rain which was not predicted until today but worked out well as it came earlier as when I went down the beds that were being stubborn & not taking up the previous drizzle, did respond brilliantly to the proper overnight rain. Not on the agenda but I could not miss the opportunity to break up the flood bed & it's neighbour who is not as bad but still some bad areas. Went OTT as also sorted the stones in the channel around the flood bed, well technically they were out of the channel, but the fact it was so dry they were all pretty much at the top so got them collected up easily & back around the edges.

Even moved on & weeded the newest asparagus bed, so only a wee bit to weed there & to finish cleared the 2nd row of raspberries at the front so only 1 bed left there & I can migrate to Plot 2 when down next after the BH. Getting peeved with these BH's as can't get down as my bus doesn't have a service & even the longer way home only has 4 buses a day. I could walk it but just a tad too far for my back to cope after a day on the plot as hilly.

We had a little more rain in the night, too.

Rain here as well last night that has freshened the atmosphere up, picked my first lot of broad beans yesterday and they were lovely with my lunch. I'm always pleased when I remember to sow some in the autumn and I love them when they are first picked and taste sweet and tender.
