We escaped the April showers today...front lawn mowed this morning...and to work to open up greenhouses...
...and then a trip out to visit our local preserved railway....official opening of their new station at North Thoresby....and Easter Steam Gala...
Helped and supported by Mortons Media Ltd..says the event listing we were handed.

Managed to plant out broad beans and peas, then, nothing but rain for the rest of the day. Growing a new type of broad bean this year called "Karmazyn" from D.T Brown...produces pink beans, should be interesting

Dear OH,
From what I have read "Karmazyn" is new this year. Much more vigorous than my usual "The Sutton"

I tried a "pink" Broad Bean a few years ago....there was a slight snag when someone picked some off the pink variety row and some from another regular variety adjacent row..and put them together and then convinced themselves at shelling that some were "off".

Dear Donedigging, well let's hope it doesn't leave you feeling a little disappointed then!

Dear OH,
As no-one else helps out, I think the beans will be smuggled in

Yes, Old H' it was lovely Spring day at the LWR railway event...although it is always a top coat colder there....not so far from the NE Lincs coast and the Humber...
A good crowd of visitors filling the 4 coach train..
It was a trip out for myself and Mum....sadly not suitable for Dad these days due to his difficulties getting about....
My Grandpa (Dads Father) worked on this section of line back in the 47 Winter..digging their way in and digging their way out again at night....
I should mention that the loco' in the photo has an unusual rear axle
Spring arrangement....just in case I'm thought to be off topic.
....and also, now unique, side rod "hinges" to allow for use on very tight curves on its original home Manchester Ship Canal Railways.

Things really are starting to move, or is it just the mention of Rhubarb.
