A Catalina flew slowly over here this afternoon. Looked like USAF markings. Do you know of it at all?

I suspect that it would have been the Plane Sailing Catalina from Duxford http://www.catalina.org.uk/ I once saw it past here going North a couple of years ago when very first in its white USAF paint scheme.

It seems a bit quiet around here on the aeroplane front except for the regular two seat Spitfire MJ627 I did spot a couple of Spanish Hornets the other day though....

Plenty of motorcycles about this evening....it's the annual bike night tonight up in the town.

Bit of a shock to see that flying over.

In the early 60's, I used to spend far more time than was healthy for a young teenager who should have been in school, at Eastleigh airport in Hampshire. There was a two seat Spitfire there at the time belonging to Viv Bellamy. G-AIDN. One of my mates managed to scrounge a flight in it one day with him. He came back covered in puke, but had the biggest smile ever

I've been trying to think of a polite answer for Old Codger all weekend, but nothing will come to mind.

Had a sad old weekend, i only went and broke my old flat tined fork Saturday. I was lifting clumps of bluebells when one side of the fork suddenly twisted against a tree root, snappped the metal shaft and that was the end of that.

What a clumsy, heavy handed fool i have been.

It's always upsetting when old tools break isn't it. The replacement is never quite the same is it

Sorry to read of the Fork problem Old H'.

Could have been worse though....One of volunteer ladies had a similar debacle with a tree root a few months back whilst gardening at her mums house... She ended up with a broken wrist as a result of the fork pinging one way and herself falling forward with hand out to save the fall........

Flat tine forks are still available in the Wilkinson Sword/Fiskars Power range as the Power Fork 601572W.
Quite a large fork and its never going to be quite as sweet to use as a classic wooden T handled fork but the important bit is that it is the diamond back flat tine type. It will just need some running in for a couple of years to get it sweet to use....
We have 2 at work sourced from B&Q. I had to check them through as the stock at the time seemed to consist of some various handle lengths all on one display hook.
