I'm thinking this morning there may be lots of happy chickens about, now the Avian Flu restrictions are easing and the "free rangers" are allowed outside to graze again.

Heard the other day about a lady who refused to accept the Barn Eggs her carer/shopper bought for her, saying she only ate "Happy Eggs". I wonder how many people actually realise there have been no free range eggs available recently while the "indoors only" restrictions have been in place. Perhaps they're still blaming the shortage of these due to other issues? A lot of people still don't understand the ins and out of how their daily foods are sourced.

I have been fortunate to still get eggs from the side of the road stalls.

Presumably the supermarkets didn't want to ditch goodness know how much packaging labelled "free range", so the cartons of eggs are still being sold as such - on the face of it. But if you look more closely at the price sticker, it says "barn eggs".

As you say, there's not been real free range on sale at most supermarkets for yonks.

I honestly doubt if most consumers pay much attention to what they're buying. I do, because food is a kinda hobby for me.

A flower question for somebody:-

I was recently gifted several bunches of white daffodils, all tightly in bud. They were immediately put in water but all the flowers have died in bud without even opening.
Does anybody know what causes this ?

A shame to commit them to the compost heap without having enjoyed the pleasure of them.

It sounds as if they were too tight in bud, Primrose….were they the multi headed type?

Maybe that’s why they gave them to you…..

No, single headed flowers.
Perhaps I should snip any future outer skins like that with a pair of scissors to make the " hatching process" easier.

I covered the chicken run in mosquito netting the sides are already done in fine mesh up to 2.4 meters high it taken three of us a full day to do it I still got birds in and couldn’t find the hole they got in and out of

When I check the Birthday list in the morning, I always look to see when they were last on the forum…. but I have been looking at the shortest time from them joining, to last visiting the forum again, and I think Jamescarmouche has it so far, with just 14 minutes…

After a beautiful day yesterday, it’s rather wet and dull here today…..so been in the glasshouse and just pricked out 225 Lavender seedlings.

I suppose Tigerburnie is bathed in sunshine….

More cold and rain here today. I'm wondering if we will ever get spring this year?

Yep wall to wall sunshine up here, but a cold east wind coming straight from the Baltic, it's not gardening weather yet.

We started of with a November feeling grey day, what a change when the sun burnt through..talking of which with the East wind and sun recently my face was a little aglow yesterday evening..

In fact the overnight and morning rain did things a favour today as the wind assisted dry up from the recent wet time was a bit too fast for some things but they have now freshened up.
I caught up with some seed sowing this morning after having been at last ticking off on ground outside jobs this week

In the back garden my peas sown on 9th are now appearing
