At long last rain here too from lunchtime for the rest of the day.

Well, it rained for twelve hours non-stop yesterday, just the job.

Now, sun today would be nice.

We had the rain yesterday and today has been wonderfully sunny almost all day. I reckon my tall peas put on several inches overnight.

Lovely evening now and no frost likely! 17mm fell between yesterday noon and this morning, not nearly enough but better than a kick in the teeth, as they say.

Hoping that the frost threat is now over - famous last words - courgettes and marrows will be planted out this week. They are currently in 9inch pots but I daren't plant them out before.

Hi Monika I made the mistake of planting mine out two weeks ago and they have not done anything. This time last year we were eaten courgettes. Not this year. The have hardly moved and are looking yellow. I have been covering them each night and uncovering them in the morning. I have not covered anything up tonight. I hope things are okay tonight. We have had rain this morning but dry all afternoon. We had rain from 1pm yesterday but not too heavy.

My yellow courgettes were doing nicely till the houdini chickens got out and scratched around under the mulch for worms... I am hoping some will recover from their antics, a little rain has helped... if not I have some green ones ready to go out!

just incase we do get some more rain i have just purchased 2 136litre waterbutts with stands for £12 out of my local paper so i now have a total of 3 waterbutts feeling rather pleased with myself for such a good deal so come on rain im ready for you.
anybody else had any good gardening deals recently ?

Well, the marrows and courgettes were planted this morning and nicely rained in this afternoon (3mm we had). At last, it has turned a bit warmer and less windy. The climbing beans and runner beans have certainly suffered lately - they are growing but look rather "starved" as they say up north, not meaning hungry but cold and shivering!

But the peas (Cavalier) and broad beans (Witkiem Manita) in the garden are forming nicely.

And the first sweet peas are flowering!

Note to self:

Next time a drought appears to be happening take a week off work to do allotment work & DIY projects.

It rained for a few minutes about 8.30 this morning while I was on the allotment.

We've just had a heavy short shower, and that's it so far.

Had to do some watering on the plot this morning again

Could we run a pipe PJ and i could empty my water butts for you ? Or the next big cloud that appears I could huff and puff it over in your direction?

I hear that Boris wants all the water from Wales and Scotland
