Morning Clive

I fear my contacts have been unable to come up with answers. You may have to dig into your memory for a few more details about surroundings etc.

Sorry

Thank you for attempting to sort the port.....

If it was indeed Wales.. :? ...I suspect it would be Mid or N Wales...as I don't recall us holidaying in S Wales.

Any more thoughts on this welcome.... I can see this stone block harbour wall with tying rings and bollards...but possibly silted and part grassed.
One day when things are a little less fraught, than very sadly they are here today, I must have a Google map run along the coastline and see what I can deduce.

Thank you,
Clive.

Well Clive, it is well worth reading that Link as there is quite a lot of similarities between what you are looking for and the description on the website of North Harbour Swansea

Thank you for the link CoMPo. I did have a quick read of it but I have checked with Mum and we did not visit that part of Wales.

We stayed near Aberystwyth one year and subsequent couple of times more N. Wales.

Regards,
Clive.

Morning Clive

That takes me back to my first thought which I kept to myself till I had checked with my contacts. They were foxed by your mention of "abandoned".

Check out Aberaeron, a place where anyone holidaying near Aberystwyth will likely visit. The harbour is not abandoned; it used to be busy, but is now only pleasure craft. And it is grassy and silty in parts where the river Aeron enters. The whole town was planned and built in the early 19th century, which could explain your memory of "built for a specific purpose".

Thank you Alan,
I will have to check this one out...Mum thinks that it could be a possibility..but I don't remember those houses. Then it could just be that I was so struck with the old harbour walls that they were the only details that I logged.
I will have to see if a few photos can be found.....

Clive.
