No, not quite that old I think he'd inherited from his grandfather or something, but it was quite a party! Around midnight, he got it out of the shed and we all took it in turns to climb on and try and ride it down the street where he lived. I do recall that at some point a member of the local constabulary appeared but he was as convulsed with laughter as we all were so no charges were pressed!

Just cracked a bottle of this year's Nouveau Beaujolais which has just arrived in the shops. This year's vintage is very fruit so I'll save you all the dregs if you fancy some. Do you remember back in the mists of time when they used to do the annual Nouveau Beaujolais race from France to England, to see who could get the first bottle over here? Another tradition down the plughole!

We're a bit short on alcohol at the mo...my Fine Young Man made an early start on the cherry brandy that was maturing nicely for christmas. He confessed under close questioning this morning

So the best we can bring is a bottle of cheap white and a bit of cream liqueur stuff. I can bring gallons of imaginary real ale, though...best make a space over there for the barrels...

Indeed there were wheelbarrows then, but they were wooden ones, ah them gold mining memories are coming back.
