We have 26 plots on our site and a few of them are now split into half plots, some of the new plotters are very enthusiastic and are there most days, however there are some that only come once a week or so.
I agree that a lot of people don't know the amount of hard work goes into working an allotment.
Last year a couple from church said that they were interested in getting a plot and asked how they should go about it. I offered them the use of 6 of my raised beds, they agreed to use them, came down to the plot regularly at first, but as the year went on the enthusiasm waned. They have decided that at this moment in time they do not have the time to 'grow your own' and have put it on hold.
I have since offered space on the plot to other church members but no one took up the offer. So been very busy myself using all my plot
