OH I planted four early in the year, then a month later I planted two more just in case! The two later plants have caught up with the first four so now I have six fruiting, four yellow and two green. so we are having spaghetti courgette bolognese, veggie courgette chilli, veggie courgette curry, roast vegetable courgette lasagne, lentil courgette bolognese etc etc. Fortunately we do like then.

that sounds a lot like our diet at the moment.

i only planted 2 plants this year, i'm still a bit sick of them from last year!

It must be a universal failing to not be able to throw viable courgette plants away! I used to be the same ( note to dear OH!) but I am very strict with myself now and only plant out two....usually, there are more than enough and...yes...neighbours tended to run indoors when they saw me coming with yet more courgettes.

Strangely enough, my courgettes aren't doing as well this year, despite molly-coddling them through this dry spell. I haven't done anything different to other years, yet they haven't "taken off" yet. By this time, they are usually growing as I watch them and I'm thinking, "Oh no....not some more".

My Pumpkins are doing okay! There are two fruits growing,( one is cricket ball sized,) but the plant is only just beginning to branch off. I think the lack of rainfall is affecting everything here....watering just isn't the same as rain.

I have to say, this is the first year I have actually been willing my courgettes to grow! The two plants are spectacularly un-productive.

Previous years, like everyone else, there has been so many fruits, I almost dreaded going on the allotment! This year, I have had very few courgettes and I can only put it down to the lack of rain early on. The plants have not grown and sprawled all over the place either. There were far more male flowers than female....I'm sure someone can give me a reason for this? Stress?

As for the pumpkin, there is only one small fruit, half the size of a football...(the other ones gave up weeks ago.) but it's ripening nicely.

We took our neighbour some courgettes and his eyes lit up and he is happy to have lots - I don't think he realises what he has said!

Hi Catherine, I like marrow and ginger jam, would courgettes substitute for marrow to make that ? I grew courgette Goldie, so it would look a nice colour . Anything like that in your book?

Courgette is simply immature marrow.

Ah, yes, I knew that Peter, the one I grew on for seed is marrow size now, just wondering if I can get away without peeling the smaller courgettes.
I guess the only way to dind out is to try it !

And it also looks as if they have the same thing happen over their, as we do here, the missed courgette that grows into a marrow.

i guess a large one could be quite a missile. That might be useful if we had bears here.
