The total for the month for us was 24.1mm, a couple of millimetres more than the 22.7mm of rainfall we had in one day on the 22nd February. Less than half our average for April - It did rain Thursday and a little on Friday but none yeaterday or today so far.
The allotment soild was quite damp yesterday when I was weeding - sort of just right really even though it is a clay soil and was cracking up in places earlier.
It's cold here today though -9.2C and that is after warming up a bit this afternoon.

WHO DID THE RAIN DANCE ? !!!!!! It's bucketing down here - raining cats and dogs! All the water butts which were empty are now overflowing and it is still raining after a wet evening yesterday. LOL

Still no rain, none forecast for the week and the NE wind is drying everything even more. But the funny thing is, I spoke to one of my daughters today who lives barely 2 miles away and they had a right royal downpour yesterday, went on for quite some time, too! We seem to get this dry spell every spring and, no doubt, it will resolve itself eventually.
I do use mulch, Nature's babe, though with blackbirds and thrushes missing the damp ground as well, they pull the mulch apart and throw it all over the place in order to get to the worms below!

LOL Monika, we have cats so don't get that problem, but I have to keep an eye on what the chickens get up to, they love worms too and can strip a mulch in minutes !

We were working on our plot yesterday and it started to hail stone

I had put all my trays for hardening off out on the empty beds and I had to run around covering them with fleece to protect them. Then the rain started and we had several heavy showers on and off for the rest of the day.
No rain today though this evening when I was shutting up the plot it was spitting, now the skies are clearing so it is going colder.
