Another cold one. Just above 1.5C last night and ground frost on the field. Fortunately looks like slightly less cold in the nights to come.

It was plenty cold yesterday...young Sam out riding the mower went and fetched a top coat from the potting shed....it's a good job our former colleague had left one of his stock of gardening coats.
I too, walking behind a mower, had to find woolly hat once more....then suddenly in the afternoon the "thermostat" must have been turned up and it went warm.
..
..and today...out of the way of the NE light breeze it suddenly went mid summer.
...I mean warm and blue sky and sunny rather than cold/wet mid summer.
Clive.

5C in greenhouse overnight... No frost so warmer than 3 nights this week. Thermals again due to the wind..
You must be sheltered from the northeasterly winds, Catherine. It was sunny here most of the day, maximum 10 degrees but a bitterly cold wind blowing off the open moor - there is nothing but moor north of us for miles and miles.
I sowed the courgettes and marrows today to grow them on inside the house until they can go into the greenhouse. The next few days the daytime maximum temperatures here are not likely to reach 10 degrees, apparently, and sleet/snow is forecast for Wednesday.
But we had 2mm of rain yesterday, yippee!
