Hi Piglet6, a real shame about the seed on the window sills . . . :? Me I have recently discovered gardening!!! three quarters of my flower boarders are now 'vegie borders' :) and I have just started on digging the lawn up (some of the lawn) verey slowly, not in the best of fitness.

I'm lucky in having a greenhouse, not used to anything like its capacity, cant you find space for one of those small plastic greenhouse type frames in a corner? Surly the extra taste of home grown would persuade your other half? My Hazel thinks it a great idea, just provided she has a few flowers at the patio doors to look at

If you have a bucket over rubarb, there is some area/ground you are using/

Hi CJS. I envy you being able to use your garden like that. And a greenhouse....... *dreams of greenhouses*

Hubby likes things all 'neat & tidy' and, unfortunately, no matter how small, a little greenhouse will not be allowed to take up residence in our garden. If we moved house to somewhere with a bigger garden or a bit of land out of view, say round the side of the house, then that's a different matter altogether...

I had a battle last year to get him to agree to a cold-frame. Then I started back at work (after 6 months off through redundancy) & he changed his decision to "No, no coldframe". The excuse being that I wouldn't have time to look after the house (my half of the housework - Lion's share!) AND the gardening.

He seems to be slowly coming round to being more reasonable as he has said about the little veg patch (approximately 1m x 2m - which is bigger then the surface area of all the pots etc that I'm using). He's good with wood so I might appeal to his 'neat & tidy' nature and ask him if he could make me some 'sides' to go around the little veg patch so I can make a little raised bed. I think it will look a lot neater than just having bare grass edges to it. It will look like it's meant to actually BE something.

Watch this space, eh? :)

Square Foot Gardening!

I don't know if you've heard of it, but it is a way of getting the maximum amount of veg out of the smallest of spaces! It's worth considering for your little patch.

Have a look here:

They can be made to look very attractive - selling point for hubby! :D
