Hi NB,
Your comment "Chemical farming leaves the soil dead, no worms,or other creatures and no mycelium" is certainly not born out here just at present.
I have a plague of Moles in the field next to my property which grew Barley last year and had a covering of manure and at a later stage was sprayed with fungicide and Nitro Chalk applied.
The only thing that attracts Moles is the worm population but according to you there are no worms when artificial fertilizers are used. Can you please explain what the Moles are eating?
I suspect your simplistic views are born out of a quaint kind of naivety and you keep quoting websites as your proof but you are relying too heavily on other peoples words, which are not as reliable as you seem to think, and so far I am not very impressed with your sources of information.
JB.

Johnboy, you are entitled to your views, as I am entitled to mine. You did say that manure had been put on that land so the worms there did have something to eat. Once when farmers ploughed you used to see birds following the plough to enjoy a feast of what was turned over, this doesn't happen now when they rely soley on chemcals. I am far from naive having lived in rural areas since my childhood in Jersey C.I., I am speaking from long experience as I am 70 this year and I have more respect for others than to denigrate and insult anyone to make my point. I am merely sharing what is working very well for me and enjoying others ideas here with an open mind. I also watch the changes our local farmers are making, the field behind our house was planted with beans and not ploughed this year, the roots were left in the grass. sheep will graze there again soon Sadly i do get big fat moles in my own garden, as there are lots of worms, sadly because my cats catch and kill them

Also check out PAN Europe News 2010, to see the results of toxicity, I am not alone in my thinking. Children have 6 or 7 times the toxic chemicals in their bodies more than adults do, many of these chemicals are implicated in cancer and leukaemia, and sexual deviations, if you had ever nursed a terminally ill todller as I have, or children with leukaemia you would think very carefully before dismissing these comcerns. Breast milk is also being monitored and researched as levels of chemicals are giving rise to concern. Agreed not all from farming some from chemicals in the home, but research lags far behind usage, we should err on the side of caution for the sake of our children.
