We have missed a couple of nights watching ...and I received a steam loco DVD about 44767 that got in the sequence ahead of the next months viewing....but today we pulled in May and June...and it was still cold and raining.!!...both on tele' and outside...

Watched and very much enjoyed, something i've seemed to have missed until now, is the very important part played by Peter Thoday, him and Mr Dodson really did make a good team.

This evening we started on the Victorian Flower Garden DVD...
The herbaceous border that they were then to re create seems to be flanking the centre path in the larger walled garden to the East of the smaller one used for the Victorian Kitchen Garden series...
I don't think I watched this one when it was on the tele'..as I did not recall any of it.... but back then my interest was purely vegetable growing and lawns...and I was busy during the day tinkering with smelly oily lawnmowers.

This was a fantastic series, along with the Wartime Kitchen Garden series, which from time to time appears on Sky. However, you cannot get this on dvd. I enquired with the makers last year and the Imperial War Museum and it seems they are don't think there is sufficient demand for this one. Such a shame because it is equally as good as its predecessor and perhaps more relevant.
