On the question of pinching out the tops of climbing beans I haven't noticed that this causes any more new growth to sprout lower down. I grow my climbers close to a 6 foot fence and often when they reach the top of the upright canes they start leaning over the fence into my neighbour's garden so I have occasionally pinched them out at this point. However often by the stage this point is reached it's inching towards the end of the growing season with the colder nights setting in, and I suspect the beans are then in slow decline with some of the leaves turning yellow so they're not much inclined to start putting out newer growth lower down the plant.

Just spent a couple of hours over the allotment, and how peaceful it was, one of those really kind of still mornings, if you know what i mean.
Very enjoyable indeed.

Great day had here as well, Grandson has come round and spent the day, such a funny little chap, we have all had quite a laugh. Bathed and tucked up in bed at the moment, him not me

I only ever knew one of my Grandparents, and that was my Nana, my Mums, Mum. She lived a fair distance from us, so i didn't get to see her very often, but there was still that special bond that only Grandparents and Grandchildren have.

But i would have loved to have known a Grandad as well.

I wonder if i'll make a good Grandad!

Why did I agree to manage/administer two U16 Rugby Teams?

Who's coming back?
How many more boys do we need to be able to run both teams instead of one team with lots of spares?
Who'll be a first aider?
Who'll do match day management of the squad my boy isn't in?

Peter - and even worse, what will you do when all the Mums or Dads who drive the lads and their friends to training sessions and matches suddenly realise they've got to be CRB checked to prove their not paedophiles and refuse to get involved any more because they're fed up with being treated like suspected criminals when they're not?
