Dear Jemimap
I have to say it's all gobble-de-gook to me.

More importantly: If you want to reach the people, you have to speak in a language they understand.

I am sure there are many of us who have reverance for mother earth and ALL that she provides for us in EVERY aspect of our lives.

Many of us are conscious of the fact that without the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms we simply would not be in existance and have such a wonderful opportunity to experience life.

If you try to observe from a more positive perspective , I am sure you will find that there are so many wonderful people who are already doing their best to raise awareness about appreciating, and caring for the earth and doing their bit in what ever way they are inspired towards looking after our planet.

(As for 1984 - already arrived - big brother watching you with cctv cameras everwhere and infringement of civil liberties, google satellite pictures of your street etc. etc. etc...)

My expression thank God for Thatcher was and is praise for the fact she did hold back '1984', I lost a good job in a large once Nationalized industry due to Mrs Thatcher's and Keith Joseph's hell bent privatization policies so my overall personal feelings are very mixed.

However what is not in any dispute is that we now live in a society that contains all that George Orwell described, we have newspeak, surveliiance, etc. and all people in postions of power have to bleat out the same mantra according to government political correctness or they are removed.

At least Thatcher was straight and supported the indeginous peoples of these Isles and I'm sure she would have dealt with the terrorists who want to destroy us with more passion than this soft lot.

As for our special relationship with America, she was no poodle, she stood her ground as an equal and was repected all the more for that.

Our present political leaders fawn over America and have no guts to stick up for the people of this once great country, the case of the extradition of a computer hacker is a current example.

If you have had an opportunity to read Plants are of No Consequence I am sure you will well understand how man is becoming more and more divorced from the plant world. That is my concern - and of course I am not alone in that view.

In truth I am still struggling to find a meaningful conection between Orwell, "1984" and "Plants are of No Consequence".
