It would be nice to think that someone might be taking notice of these petitions, but I doubt it. After all, the most popular petition "We the undersigned petition the PM to ... resign" seems to be falling on deaf ears

I think that they may take notice of the petitions but whether they act on them is sadly an altogether different story.

Many thanks to all that have signed so far. last year's petition reached 1500+ so lets have more! By the way, it's my name on the petition and they haven't crashed my PC yet. I believe in putting my beliefs to the test - what is it they say? Nasty things happen when good people do nothing?

I signed and sent the link to all my gardening friends. If they haven't signed I'll chop them off my Christmas card list !

Is it possible to get an open letter to Tom Watson with the signatories of this forum and try and get him to work for us to rattle Parliament. To get his cronies to sign the petition to the PM.
I shall be writing to Tom Watson, later on today, at the Parliament Building in an endeavour for him to do just this.
The trouble as I see it is that the petition has until October to run and it is likely that a decision could be made to re-liecence AP before this date.
We desperately need a delaying tactic!

I have emailed other MPs who were supportive last year to ask them to sign up.

The problem is that as Parliament is in recess many of the MPs are not there but on holiday as I have had responses saying that they are unavailable 'til ..... Also some will only receive correspondence from their own constituents.

I will try Tom Watson but if anyone felt they could contact their own MPs or even know where to visit them in their constituency then that would be good. It seems as though most MPs email address is surnameinitial@parliament.uk so smithj@parliament.uk etc. I'm not sure how we would get signatures from the forum but maybe if as many as possible contact Tom Watson thanking him for his support it may be the next best thing.

I also emailed contacts of any pro gardeners - it's not easy to find those but most seem to be keeping a low profile on the subject. What about the ones who write for KG can admin encourage them to sign - at least one has - unless it's just the same name - so it can't be against the rules!!!

For anybody wanting to write to their MP, MEP or Local Councillors, a very useful website is www.Writetothem.com. I use it all the time (my local representatives must be sick of hearing from me !). You just put in your post code and it automatically brings up your required representative. There's also a template form you can use for the process, so it's very quick and easy (and no faffing around with stamps and envelopes). It also has a follow-up facility whereby after a certain period the website e-mails you back and asks whether your MP has replied to your e-mail. I don't know whether it then sends a jogging up reminder as our MP has always replied fairly promptly, so I've never had to check out the efficiency of this part of the process.

I doubt DOW would be interested in collecting our big pile, glallotments! It was wheelbarrowed down a steep grassy hill with two sharp corners and a step and would have to be taken up the hill again with a wheelbarrow, forked over the fence and then taken by tractor across a sloping pasture to the nearest road! You get the drift.

We are going to spread it out and dig it in instead in a part of the allotment which has lousy soil (it's right at the top and the good soil has been washed down over the years). Then, next spring, we'll test seed it with a broad leaved vegetable (lettuce?) and see what happens.

By the way, Primrose, that website with MPs, county councillors etc is brilliant. I have certainly immediately written to our MP about aminopyralid.
