I have had two pairs of Mistle Thrushes nesting at opposing ends of my property this year and they are the most warlike birds you could wish to have. Apart from fighting between the pairs when they have young in the nest they resent anything that dares to go within about 50 yards of their nests and the buggers dive bomb you and also fly straight at you. I have had to take evasive action several times this year. Having said that I do hope they stay and are here again next year as they are truly majestic Thrushes. I have counted 8 Song Thrush nests on the plot this year and there could be more. I also have two pairs of Great Spotted Woodpeckers and when they meet at the nut basket the males fight like made whilst their womenfolk tuck into the nuts both on the feeder at the same time.
I often wonder what the womenfolk say to each other twixt pecks at the nuts!

I imagine they are having a bit of a snigger, Johnboy!

There are peacocks on the farm opposite us, and I sometimes wonder what the peahens think of their males, with all that prancing around with their big tails up... :lol:
