Well, I tried talking to the netting nicely and listened to Elgar's Nimrod,as recommended by FelixLeiter, all to no avail.
However, reading Elaine's reply about chicken netting, I thought Aha ! this sounds verrrrry interesting. So today we went and bought a roll of the said chicken netting, cut it to length and after shredding my arms on the sharp edges folded it as per Elaines directions and EUREKA it works. So no more net rage for me.

Rhubarb Stick, I gather that the most successful way of dealing with netting is to put an inverted plastic drink bottle over the canes. There are probably more of these around than plant pots and they don't have holes in them for the m to slide down the cane.

I got the bill in this morning for four 50M rolls of Rabbit netting and 100 stakes £304.60. These vegetables get dearer every year!
