Hi, Monica
Thanks for the advice.
Moley soil? Certainly no shortage of that here

Hi there
I thought it was a good time to post an update to this thread.
Back in April, the mole(s) tunneled under every row of parsnips seedlings, and I very nearly ripped the whole lot out.
But I decided to wait and see what happened, and this week I've harvested my first parsnips of the year:

Moral of the story: Give things a chance. It's not always as bad as you think
(By the way, I never did manage to reduce the mole population by more than one

)

Hi Caz,
The Moles have been a pain here this year after many years absence.
I have done 100% better than you TWO!
I have automatic watering down the centre of my Runner Beans and a couple of weeks ago forgot that it was on for about three hours and the entire centre of the row had collapsed because of moles. They went under my peas as well. I suppose anywhere there is a good worm count.
The funniest thing with moles was with Sweetcorn many years ago. As I watered then sweetcorn they slowly sunk into the ground and they actually went down by about 9".
JB.

Good Morning folks
Johnboy, I love the sweetcorn story

It reminds me of the day I fell into my garden - I was just doing a spot of weeding with my hand trowel, but as I started to push down, the trowel was swallowed up by the earth, closely followed by my hand and lower part of my arm

It was so unexpected that I was thrown off balance and ended up in the flowerbed!
OH, I'm quite pleased with those parsnips
But posting a photo was a bit of a self-indulgence / experiment. I've finally got myself a digital camera this week, and am taking pictures of anything that will stand still long enough

And having taken the photo, I wanted to see if I could fathom out how to upload it onto the site. As you see, SUCCESS!!!
