I found San Marzano most suceptible to blossom end rot. I prefer Rio Grande, also from Seeds of Italy. They liken them to Roma, but I grow them under glass and train them as a cordon. Makes good paste.

Yes, it can be a problem with San Marzano. But I find that if you keep them watered regularly with care some plants will be OK, especially the ones with larger fruits. That's why I'm trying San Marzano Redorta this year - much bigger fruits. And fingers crossed.

I've tried others but still rate San Marzano as the tomatoes of choice for cooking.
