Gosh, JB, did you have a rough night or were you just up very early?

I too think Beryl Cook's work was brilliant, she wil be sadly missed around here. She used to frequent the same pub as me in Plymouth (The Dolphin, on the Barbican).

To me her paintings are full of fun and the closer you look the more they seem to relate to everday life. There are some quite cheeky ones too which spice them up a bit. But nothing that could ever be descibed as sordid.

Many people in this area have had family paintings done by her (and Robert Lenkiewicz) which we will probably never see.
Sir Joshua Reynolds also came from Plymouth.
Maybe a person's time would be as well spent raising food as raising money to buy food - Frank A. Clark.
