hello Johnboy, Do you when tightening the poly skin, start with the middle baton or one of the ends? also what length of baton do you use 2.4,3.1 0r 3.6 metre or doesnt it matter? ...paul.

I have already given the fill we now use, for that we are in agreement. On the wind and tunnel orientation subject we actually had no choice but it so happens that the prevailing wind (West)is mostly along the tunnel, the strongest, damaging winds (South)do in fact come on the sides.
Are you going to tell Paul how to pull the plastic, if not then I shall. It is laid down in the erection instructions and works well.

We've got two tunnels, side by side with a path between them, on a sloping field. They're surrounded by gravel which is edged by tannelised boards set into the ground. Apart from retaining the gravel, it gives a hard edge to mow to. The gravel extends at either end so that there's an entrance and exit from each tunnel. As well as looking tidy, this makes walking in/out and around the tunnels easier, gives a home to the water butts and provides a firm floor for standing plants out to harden off.
It also keeps the slugs and snails out.
