For planting Chillies in containers, can anyone offer some advice?
This year I grew one strain of Chilli in two ways:
1) Double depth growbags
2) In containers around 11" diameter and 12" deep.
The ones in containers grew far more than the ones in growbags (even at 2 to a bag). That seems to indicate that Chillies like their roots to grow down and aren't interested in spreading out. But maybe there's more to it than that?
I expect those of you that can plant directly into the soil in Polytunnels probably get pretty big plants. This year our container ones were well over 4' high and are still going strong now I've brough them into our copnservatory.
