Hi OH,
Yes, it's very easy to forget that this isn't quite normal, and loads of people aren't so lucky. Mind you they get their own back when they come down in their hordes to invade our beach. Bloody tourists
Cheers, PJ

We haven't had any rain for two weeks and I am getting a bit worried. My broadbeans which were really healthy when I put them in are now going yellow on the bottom leaves. I have been watering them but somewhere I read that you shouldn't keep watering so I have stopped this last couple of days. I also read that you dont need to water potatoes until they are flowering. So I am in a complete flux. I probably shouldn't have put this under general chatter, but once started I could not stop.It is 9.7C at the moment but it feels alot colder and the sky is clear looking out of my kitchen window at the moment.

It's been pouring with rain here which is just what we need. Hopefully it will clear tomorrow rather sooner than forecast, but either way, Sunday is set fair and those weeds will be so much easier to pull
However, pretty chilly so those clouts are going back on today
Just seen the forecast and they're saying a touch of frost for the north on Sunday morning.

Well as a novice I have everything out that is going out and have given away my back ups. I even have squashes out but they were trying to leave the greenhouse of their own accord and getting very ugly!!!
Just great to see green on my allotment instead of all the mud.

Hi Penny,
I guess that in the London area you should be OK but if you were to do the same in this area you would probably come unstuck.
I feel that in future years you should not be quite so hasty to get rid of your back-ups as sometimes it is not just the weather that may catch you out.
Lets hope everything goes well for you and that your harvest will be a bumper one.
JB.

Its fleece weather here. I have been transplanting my sweet peas which are looking a bit sick. So I have put them in bigger pots and fed them. But my broad beans are looking sick and I have no back ups now as everything is in, though I have planted some more in the ground. They have got pale lower leaves and some are a little blackened at the edges. Is that because it is too cold. I thought BB were hardy? Last year I gave away all my back ups and mine gave up the ghost and the neighbour who had my sweet pea back ups had lovely flowers all summer and I had none and I was the one who had done all the work so no more till I am sure.

It's been jolly chilly here today, dry, mainly overcast with a sneaky little easterly wind. Everything is bone dry but I am hoping that the watering I did BEFORE the sowing and planting will pay off and roots will search down for more moisture.

Think we were all fooled by the earlier warm spell. My tomatoes are planted out but have put their individual water bottle cloches back over them, and the courgettes are similarly protected. Just about to pop out to put some fleece over the climbing beans too. Think this week-end is going to be pretty cold and miserable.

It's nippy and wet here today....good job I was too bone lazy to plant anything out.
I was going to, but Grock was about so we sat and talked, smoked and drank tea instead of working
I'll plant out later in the week I think....maybe....who knows?
