Slug allert

Good afternoon all,
In one posting Johnboy mentioned that the Ferric Phosphate Slug control was available in liquid form, as well as pellets, but was not recommended for use on vegetables.
If this is used on bare ground to clear it of slugs how long do you think that that ground should be left before planting with vegetables? Or is it that it's just not suitable for direct use on veg?
As this product is supposed to kill slugs and snails above and underground and their eggs to boot, I think it would be useful to clear ground which I had covered with cardboard and into which I intend to plant cabbage later.
It will be interesting, and helpful, to hear what you all think.
