Good afternoon all,
In one posting Johnboy mentioned that the Ferric Phosphate Slug control was available in liquid form, as well as pellets, but was not recommended for use on vegetables.
If this is used on bare ground to clear it of slugs how long do you think that that ground should be left before planting with vegetables? Or is it that it's just not suitable for direct use on veg?
As this product is supposed to kill slugs and snails above and underground and their eggs to boot, I think it would be useful to clear ground which I had covered with cardboard and into which I intend to plant cabbage later.
It will be interesting, and helpful, to hear what you all think.
Best regards,
Gerry.

Hi Gerry,
There must be some confusion as it was not me the said anything about ferric sulphate in liquid form as I have not got the foggiest idea if it is available in liquid form or not.
I did say last week that ferric suphate slug pellets now have Organic status having gathered accreditation from a source other than the Soil Association.

Hi Johnboy,
Apologies for that. I did search for the thread but couldn't find it. I must have had a senior moment. However I got Scots Slug Clear Liquid from N.A.Kays and although this is not the Ferric Phosphate it does all that I mentioned in my posting. Have you any thoughts on using this before planting vegetables. Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Gerry.

Hi Gerry,
I garden pragmatically and have always used slug pellets and have no experience of using any liquid forms and therefore am unable to advise you.
I trialled the ferric phosphate New Advanced Slug Pellet last year and although not quite as effective as conventional the ones I have considered them to be good enough and effective at slug control.
I have therefore used them on my early sowings of Carrots and have plenty of evidence that they have done the job they were used for.
I do not know if the New Advanced Slug Pellet are marketed in the ROI.
I can always send you a sample if needs be.

Hi Johnboy,
Thanks for the reply. I will be able to get them in the UK as we are over fairly regularly to pick up grandchildren for school hols. Thanks very much for the offer though.
Regards,
Gerry.
