Our local ambulance service was getting complaints about sirens being used at night (though we don't as a rule, lights are usually enough at night). So the legal position was investigated, and it was found that emergency services are exempt from the usual rule. So the Chief Exec emailed all road staff telling us we should use our sirens at ALL times.
