Hi Pezzer1,
Thank you for a very full explanation.
Was I correct in taking the word of my Stihl agent or was he telling me a load of old cobblers?
Have the Stihl Company laboratory got it all wrong?
Should I be using Stihl oil or should I be changing to something else?
I would be more than grateful for an answer.

best advice would be to follow manufacturers advice,they have tested tested and tested to give you the best possible service from your machine,no point in trying to save a few quid on buying cheap 2/ oil or even using engine oil,costs in the long run
