Piglet! I knew you'd stick your snout into this one. If you're feeling inferior with your Tesco spade, I'm sorry.
My boss banned me from taking courgettes into the office (for my colleagues) on the same principle...

Chanters,
not inferior, just annoyed as I now remember seeing yours in the boot of your car at Ryton and clean forgot about them. I would sooner have had the longer Aldi ones , but am now stuck with the nice Tesco one, Ah well perhaps I do need another fork, you cant have too many forks you know.

Assuming Aldi have them on sale this year, get one of each. At £8 each it's peanuts and they are very very good. You can keep the others until some short arse comes round to help with the digging, or if you are standing in a hole.

I used my normal spade today whilst digging potato trenches and then putting somwe muck in the bottom, the long fork would have been great for spreading it out in the bottom of the trench rather than bending over with my standard lenght one.

I rest my case...

Chantal, sorry that shaft might be long enough for you

but it's just too short for me.

.
I need about 1.5m shaft on a fork or spade.
And to slightly mis-quote Babe's owner, "That'll do piglet, that'll do."

Peter, sounds like the sort they use in Italy. I'm one of the aforementioned short arses so they're great for me.
Just a thought, if you can get them in Italy, Paulo Arrigo at Seeds of Italy may be able to help.
